My Angelus News column this week is about the cloitered nuns of Santa Rita Abbey in Sonoita, Arizona: a place where I’ve made several private retreats.

Oh right–and we have a new Pope! Glory be to God and may he lead us with clarity, fidelity, and humility. Let’s pray for him–what a job.

      Hi dear Susan, unlike it seems everyone else in the universe, I am not an expert on the papacy. He’s the Vicar of Christ and therefore has my respect and my prayers. I hope he is able to provide clarity and guidance, to foster devotion to the Eucharist, and to remain deepy faithful to the teachings of the Church–which is to say, to our Lord and Redeemer, Christ–while encouraging us to do the same! He carries a heavy, heavy burden–so again, and as always, I figure the best way to help is prayer…
