My birthday is tomorrow: 68 years of age!
I look forward to a fruitful year.
That’s my grandfather, Pa we called him, a kindly bricklayer who kept his own counsel, after retirement dozed in his armchair, and kept a tin of hard candies at all times by his side which he very generously shared.
Pa hailed from Scotland and the story goes that I was so named because while courting, my father sang to my mother at tune from the old country called “A Wee Hoose ‘Mang the Heather.”
Harry Lauder was a Scottish singer and vaudevillian–and I am proud to say we wore the same kind of cap!

Happy Birthday!!! God Bless You!!! May you have a wonderful year.

Happy Birthday Heather!
Happy birthday Heather. Join the 68 club.
As you know I’m sure, it’s all a matter of perspective.
Happy Birthday Heather! What a beautiful and romantic song! What a lovely way to be given a name! I grew up to Irish music, but sometimes Scottish, especially this one:

Now that is what I call an embarrassment of riches! Thank you all so very much for your kindness, quirkiness, and generosity of spirit. I spent a quiet(ish) day and watched a wonderful documentary (it was a premiere and a fundraiser so not sure when or whether it will be available) called The Way Forward. About students, faculty and supporters of The Colburn School, a top-notch performing arts (music and dance) school for young people in downtown LA. Deeply moving–yes! Art is one of the things that will save us–“I came to cast fire on the earth and how I wish it were already kindled!” said Christ. Very poignant that the older we get the more deeply we feel that…just as our powers SEEM to be on the wane. But no! On we must go! You buoy me up and help me to keep going. Again–thank you.
